The Xiaomi 13 series was launched in China today. It contains regular and pro variants. The devices feature significant upgrades and come as successors to last year's Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro. Apart from the smartphones, Xiaomi also presented Redmi Buds 4, Watch S1 Pro and MIUI 14 at the event. Read on to see what the Xiaomi 13 Duo offers out of the box.
The Xiaomi 13 duo has an AMOLED display, a built-in fingerprint scanner and a punch hole in the middle. Both smartphones offer a refresh rate of 120 Hz, a peak brightness of 1,900 nits, HDR10+, Dolby Vision and HLG support. The regular variant has a 6.36-inch flat-panel FHD+ display, while the Pro model has a 6.73-inch QHD+ display with curved edges.
The Xiaomi 13 has a box shape, while the Pro model has a sleek design. Both devices have a square camera module on the back and are IP68 certified for water and dust resistance. The smartphones also feature nano-skin technology, which is said to make cleaning the back easier.
For the regular variant, the setup consists of a 50MP OIS-capable Sony IMX800 sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide angle lens and a 10MP telephoto lens. The Pro model gets a 1-inch Sony IMX989 50MP primary lens, along with 50MP ultra-wide and 50MP telephoto lenses.
Both the smartphones have a 16MP selfie snapper on the front. The Xiaomi 13 Duo also features technology from legendary camera maker Leica to improve imaging capabilities.
Under the hood of the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro is the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. Both devices have up to 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256 GB of UFS 4.0 storage technology. They also have a liquid cooling heat distribution system on board.
The Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro are powered by 4,500mAh and 4,820mAh batteries that support 67W and 120W wired charging respectively. Both phones have a Surge G1 charging protection chip with support for 50W wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging.
The Xiaomi 13 series runs on the Android 13 operating system based on MIUI 1. Options and connectivity on G5 devices, 4G, WiFi, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, IR Blaster and USB-C port.
Xiaomi and 13 Pro in white, black, green and light blue colors. The regular variant has also been announced in five different colors than the Custom, including Flame Red, Sapphire Blue, Hurricane Yellow, Jungle Green and Cement Grey. The Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro will not be available for pre-order in Chinese from today. Both sides will be on sale from December 14th.
