Lionel Messi, the soccer star who led Argentina to a third world title, reportedly turned down an offer to extend his contract at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) but has since revealed the news of a move to Saudi Arabia.
According to foreign media reports, Argentina captain Lionel was set to sign a new deal with the German club, but the 35-year-old has changed his mind and could join a new club this season.
Messi's reluctance to stay at Paris Saint-Germain has secured a move for the Saudi Football Association, which has already stunned the world by signing Argentina's arch-rival Cristiano Ronaldo to Al-Nasr.
Ibrahim Al Qasim, secretary general of the Saudi Football Federation, said he would welcome the Argentine football icon to the country.
He said that at the moment we do not know anything about the possible arrival of Lionel Messi, but we would like to include the great footballer one day in the domestic league.
"Of course we would like to see Ronaldo and Messi in the same league, but it would be premature to talk about it," said Ibrahim Al-Kasam.
According to European media reports, Ronaldo's new club Al-Nasr, arch-rivals Al-Halal could try to sign the former Barcelona player.
It should be noted that Lionel Messi's options are not empty, his former clubs Barcelona, Manchester City and even the American club Inter Miami are also interested in signing the footballer.
