The first case of polio has been reported in America after ten years. A young man living in the suburbs of New York State, USA, has been diagnosed with polio.

The man, who lives in Rockland County, New York, suffered a stroke about a month ago.

The New York Department of Health has said in a statement that this case of polio is highly contagious and originated elsewhere outside of the United States. Khana and all those who had close contacts are being surveyed.

The health commissioner clarified that the patient was no longer capable of spreading polio germs.

He said that the young man was not vaccinated against polio.

According to the Health Commissioner, this case of polio is caused by a weakened strain of the virus actually present in the vaccine used in foreign countries, which sometimes causes infection.

This is the reason why the use of this vaccine in the United States was stopped in the year 2000.

According to the health commissioner, an investigation is underway to determine when and where the Rockland resident contracted the virus.

According to the American newspaper New York Times, the person concerned is a member of the Orthodox Jewish community, which had an outbreak of measles between 2018 and 2019.

The main reason for this epidemic was that very few people were vaccinated.

According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, no cases of polio have been reported in the US since 1979.
