It has been revealed in front of the committee investigating the attack on the US House of Representatives that on January 6, 2021, former President Donald Trump watched violent events on TV for several hours while his children and advisers pleaded with Trump to stop.

During the eighth hearing of the committee consisting of the House of Representatives, it was stated that Trump's inflammatory speech provoked the protesters to attack the Capitol Hill while it was the failure of the former president not to stop what happened during it.

"Trump was sitting at the dinner table watching the attack on TV," said Democratic committee member Elaine Laura.

Meanwhile, his staff and children pleaded with him to do something as the US president, but he ignored.

The panel also played videos of White House aides and security personnel recorded on the spot during the hearing.

Former White House consul Pat Cipollone was asked if Trump had called the secretary of defense, the attorney general or the head of homeland security before doing all of this. Cipollone answered 'no' to all these questions.

According to panel members, Trump's daughter Ivanka and son Don Jr. were among those urging him to stop violence against supporters.

Benny Thompson added, "Trump tried to destroy our democratic institutions. He called the mob to Washington."

The investigative committee is examining the aftermath of the US election and Trump's speech and video of the attack on Capitol Hill, while recording the statements of more than 1,000 witnesses.

All committee proceedings are expected to be completed by September.
