Security Council welcomes peaceful transfer of power in Yemen

Saudi Arabia and UAE praise economic package 


The UN Security Council has welcomed the peaceful transfer of power to the newly formed Presidential Leadership Council in Yemen. 

The Security Council praised the economic package provided by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates for Yemen. 

According to the state news agency SPA and the Middle East, Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi had decided to delegate the powers of the constitutional government to the State Council. 

The Security Council requested that in addition to the International Atomic Energy Agency's ongoing inspections in Yemen, that it monitor Iran's compliance with "the steps required by the IAEA Board". 

He welcomed the 3 billion economic package for Yemen from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. 

He also praised Saudi Arabia for providing an additional 300 300 million for a program to address humanitarian problems in Yemen at the request of the United Nations.

Rashad al-Alami has vowed that he will do everything possible to end the conflict and establish peace in Yemen, to deal with all forms of terrorism so that Yemeni citizens can live in the shadow of the law.
