At least five worshipers were injured when gunmen opened fire on praying people leaving a mosque in Toronto, Canada.

According to the International News Agency, the mosque in Toronto was fired upon while the citizens were leaving after the Isha prayers.

Five praying people were injured in the firing and have been shifted to a nearby hospital.

A gunman opened fire on a group of praying people leaving the mosque and fled, Toronto Police Department spokesman David Redzak said.

It is still difficult to estimate the number of suspects in the attack.

David Redzak added that it remains to be determined whether the wounded were targeted because of religious beliefs or personal resentment.

On the other hand, Nadeem Sheikh, a member of the Muslim Association Board, demanded immediate arrest of the accused and said that the attackers should be punished severely according to law.
