At Blackpool Zoo in the UK, volunteers disguised as birds are now taking on the vital job of keeping sea herons away from humans. |
LONDON: A British zoo has decided to dress up people as birds to scare seagulls away from tourists by stealing their food and harassing them.
Seaside Zoo in the town of Blackpool, Lancashire, UK has announced the recruitment of new staff. They will dress up as birds that drive away the herons. Gulls have become so fearless in Britain that they will attack, hit or steal their food, especially small ones.
However, a condition of the job is that they dress up as a bird and run to wherever they see seagulls and scare them away. The reason: Seagulls fly over the zoo and make it difficult for people to sit down.
Specifically, a team disguised as a bird will be stationed at food outlets so people can eat in peace. According to zoo management, the ideal candidate should be enthusiastic, friendly, and dynamic.
It should be noted that sea herons, despite all the suffering, are fully protected. However, a few days ago, a person killed a heron and looped it around his neck with a rope. The reason is that people are very worried about the courage of these birds.
Therefore, the zoo management tried to solve this problem with people in the form of birds.
