PESHAWAR: World Bank starts 2 hydroelectric power projects with 245 MW in Swat district. 

The World Bank is set to commission two 245-megawatt hydropower projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Swat district this year, which when completed will bring the province more than 13 billion rupees in annual income. 

The provincial government has implemented a comprehensive safety plan to ensure the safety of project staff and foreign engineers working on the projects. 

This was announced at a high-level meeting with the World Bank mission chaired by Energy and Electricity Minister Nisar Ahmad Khan. 

The mission, led by World Bank Senior Energy Specialist Mohammad Saqib, was attended by Chief Executive Engineer Naeem Khan, Chief Program Engineer KHRE Shah Hussain and project leaders along with other mission members. 

At the meeting, Pedo Engineer Chief Executive Officer Naeem Khan said during a briefing that 157 MW Madin and 88 MW Gabral Kalam hydroelectric projects have been included.

In this regard, a $450 million agreement has been signed between the World Bank and the provincial government, these projects will be completed by 2027.
