ISLAMABAD: A high-level delegation led by Russia's energy minister is due to arrive in Pakistan tomorrow to purchase crude oil, oil products and gas from Russia.
A crucial meeting between Russia and Pakistan is scheduled for January 18-20 in Islamabad. The delegation includes officials and experts from the fields of energy, railways, communications, industry and trade.
According to sources, it was decided to get crude oil and other energy products from Russia immediately at a 30% discount.
In the case of sourcing cheap oil products from Russia, $2 billion can be saved annually. Pakistani refineries have made it possible to produce petroleum products from Russian crude.
During the session of the Intergovernmental Commission, the payment and delivery procedure will also be decided.
