North Korea threatens to take action against Japan over increased defense budget

Pyongyang: North Korea has threatened retaliation, calling Japan's up to $320 billion defense budget and new security strategy wrong and dangerous.

According to the World News Agency, the Japanese prime minister announced a new defense policy at a press conference, including a five-year plan of $320 billion to increase the defense budget and prepare a new army and weapons.

The Japanese prime minister had said that the purpose of increasing the military budget and modern military preparations is to respond to threats from China, Russia and North Korea, which is extremely important for national security.

If Japan implements its five-year defense plan, it will become the third-largest military spender behind China and the US.

North Korea has strongly condemned Japan's defense plan, calling it rearmament, renewed attacks and provocation, and threatened action against Japan.

North Korea also criticized the United States, calling the United States the root of Japan's defense plan, adding that the American plan to upset the balance of power in the region will fail.
