Zelenskyy first post-attack visit to America will meet with Biden

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is visiting the United States for the first time since the Russian invasion in February.

The Associated Press news agency, citing sources, said that in addition to two congressional sources, another person familiar with the visit confirmed the visit of the Ukrainian president to the United States.

He said on condition of anonymity that Vladimir Zelenskyy's visit is fully planned, but there is still a possibility of postponing it for security reasons.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy's planned visit includes a meeting with President Joe Biden and a speech on Capitol Hill.

The Ukrainian President's visit comes as US lawmakers vote in the coming days on a year-end spending package that includes $45 billion in aid to Ukraine.

Also part of the package is the delivery of surface-to-air missiles to defend Ukraine against Russian attacks.

Zelenskyy's visit comes a day after his "dangerous and courageous" visit to what he called the "most tense area" in the frontline town of Bakhmut.

On that occasion, praising the spirit of the Ukrainian soldiers when he said: "Courage and resistance are your strength", the sounds of heavy weapons could be heard in the background.

The President of Ukraine informed the troops that he arrived there via Slavyansk, Kramatorsk and Drozheka. It was an unannounced visit presented in a way that showed Russia's failure when Russian troops attempted to occupy the city. are in

It is worth remembering that on February 24 this year, Russia attacked neighboring Ukraine, since then fighting has been ongoing.

After the attack, Western countries, including the United States, are supporting Ukraine and have imposed economic sanctions on Russia and are also helping Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said there would be no surrender, while Russian President Putin said fighting would continue until Ukraine surrendered.

During the fighting, Russia occupied several areas of Ukraine, some annexed after a referendum, others recaptured by Ukrainian troops.

The international community has rejected the referendum held by Russia, while the Russian President has also threatened to use nuclear weapons in the battle.
