According to Indian media reports, a man dressed as Santa Claus was distributing chocolates to share Christmas cheer in a residential area of Mukarpura when he was tortured by a mob of Hindu extremists who were present there.
Police confirmed the incident and said Hindu extremists objected to him distributing chocolates, sparking a clash between the two communities. Later, members of the Christian community contacted the police after the incident and asked for security in the area.
On the other hand, according to the Chhattisgarh Christian Forum, more than 100 people including women have taken shelter in a stadium in Narayanpur, while many people have taken shelter in other places, including churches.
Earlier yesterday, the Hindu organization claimed the historic Shahi Eidgah mosque as the birthplace of Lord Krishna and filed a claim for possession of 13.37 acres of land to build a temple on which the court ordered a survey of the mosque.
