Emirates: Exceeding stay at home fined up to one million dirhams for violation

The Ministry of Municipalities and Transport in the United Arab Emirates has warned that "in the first quarter of the new year, a special campaign will be launched to address the problem of overcrowding".

According to Emirates Daily, the local authority has launched an awareness campaign in all regions and cities of the emirate. It is titled "Your Home is Your Responsibility".

Emirati authorities say that "for violating the law and the prescribed procedure, a fine of up to one million dirhams will be imposed and a departmental fine will also be imposed."

"During the awareness campaign, people are made aware of the dangers of overcrowding in a house."

The local body called on all citizens of the emirate, building and business owners to let as many people live in a house as it can accommodate.

Legal restrictions must be respected. The local body says that "(single) workers will be accommodated in the same areas reserved for them. They should be kept away from family residential areas.
