25,000 Caspian seals are mysteriously dying off the southern coast of Russia

Russia's Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment said two and a half thousand dead seals were found on the country's southern coast. The Guardian newspaper, citing local authorities, said they had put the number of dead seals at seven hundred on Saturday.

The Fisheries Agency says the total number of Caspian seals is between 270,000 and 300,000, while the Caspian Conservation Center puts the number at 70,000. 

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has listed capsaicin seals on the Red List of Threatened Marine Life. 

The head of the environmental protection center, Zavor Gupizov, said the seals appeared to have died about two weeks ago, adding that there was still no evidence of whether they had been killed or caught in fishing nets. are stuck 

The experts of the Federal Fisheries Agency also checked the coastal area and, according to the information received from there, found no signs of deadly pollution in the water. 

It should be noted that there have been cases before where dead Caspian seals have been found in such large numbers due to natural causes. Kazakhstan, which has the longest coastline along the Caspian Sea this year. At least three such incidents have been reported over the years
