Police in the US state of Arizona have arrested a man for freezing 183 species of animals, including dogs, cats and birds, in a home freezer.
Michael Patrick Torland, 43, of Arizona, has admitted to freezing some live animals, the Mohawe County Sheriff's Office said. Michael Patrick has been charged with 94 counts of animal cruelty.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said photos of the scene were "disgusting and shocking."
"As an animal lover, I was crying when I saw them," he said.
Authorities are searching for Brooklyn Beck, Michael Patrick's wife.
Michael Patrick's arrest was made after police received a tip from a woman who told police she had left some of her snakes with Michael Patrick to take care of them, but Michael stayed for a few months.
They later disappeared and were unable to find them.
The woman told police that the owner of the house where Michael Patrick and his wife lived contacted them shortly afterwards and the secret was revealed.
He said that when the owner came to clean the apartment, he found a freezer full of dead animals in the garage, which contained some of his snakes.
The owner of the apartment immediately contacted them and informed them.
Police found dogs, turtles, lizards, birds, snakes, rats and rabbits in some of the frozen animals. Ten days later, police were informed that Michael Patrick had returned home, and they arrested him.
It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.
