At least 41 people were killed and 55 injured after a fire broke out in a church in Egypt

A fire in a local church in Al-Giza in Egypt has killed 41 people, while the Ministry of Health reported that at least 55 people were injured. 

Arab News quoted the Coptic Church of Egypt as saying that Sunday. A big fire broke out in the church. 

The Coptic Church reported the death toll, citing health officials and saying the fire broke out while worship was underway. 

A Coptic Church spokesman told Al Arabiya TV that the church's priest had died in the accident. 

After the incident, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi also spoke on the phone with the Coptic Christian Pope Tawadros II to express his condolences. 

"At least 30 ambulances transported the injured to local hospitals," Health Ministry spokesman Hossam Abdul Ghaffar told the state-run news website Ihram.

According to the report, the injured have been transferred to Ambaba General Hospital and Al-Ajoza Hospital. 

It should be clear that the fire broke out in Abusfin Church in Ganjanabad neighborhood of Ambaba. 

However, the cause of the fire was not immediately known. 

The police said. It is said that in the preliminary investigation there are reports of short circuit of electricity. 

General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said in a Facebook post that he was closely monitoring the situation after the "tragic accident" and instructed all relevant state institutions to take the necessary measures. 

The Egyptian president said, "I My heartfelt condolences to the families of the innocent victims.
