The Center for Gulf and Arabian Studies under Kuwait University has identified the biggest cause of divorce in the country.
According to the Kuwaiti journal Al-Rai, the study center recently conducted a survey of public opinion in Kuwait on the issue of divorce.
Fifteen percent of those polled believe that social media is the biggest cause of divorce in Kuwait.
13% said lack of religious awareness was the main reason. 9.8% said that divorces were taking place due to the interference of the couple's relatives.
The fourth major cause of divorce is undue freedom and convenience, the study said. According to 9.2%, this is the main reason for divorce.
9.0% say that divorce is taking place due to negligence and non-fulfillment of family responsibilities. 8.6% think that financial problems are also a big reason.
7.7% say that lack of trust between spouses and betrayal of marital relationship is a major cause of divorce.
5.9 per cent claim that the main reason for divorce is that the newlyweds are not getting comfortable accommodation, they are either forced to live in small flats or they are living under a joint family system, which is why divorces are taking place.
5.6% say that husbands do not spend on their wives and children, so there are divorces.
5.6% think that increasing violence between husband and wife is also one of the reasons for divorce.
5.5% say that the law of family affairs is responsible for divorce, which has given the divorcee many privileges, such as non-maintenance, car, maid, driver and housing rights, so divorce is increasing.
5.3% believe that the cause of divorce is s**ual problems.
