UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has arrived in France on his first foreign visit since taking office.

President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan was received by President Emmanuel McEwan at the Presidential Palace on Monday.

According to WAM, the official news agency of the Emirates, President Sheikh Mohammed and Emmanuel McEwan will discuss climate change, joint interaction in the fields of future energy and advanced technology, and the security and stability of the region in the meeting held at the Presidential Palace.

During the visit, the leaders of France and the UAE will discuss improving bilateral relations and cooperation in the fields of culture, education and space.

Relations between the two countries date back to the establishment of the UAE when French petroleum company Toll was looking for oil in the UAE.

These relations were further strengthened by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan's visit to France in 1976.

France is one of the main countries investing in the UAE. French direct investment in the Emirates was 2.5 billion euros by the end of 2020.

The UAE ranks 35th among countries investing in France.
