The government has barred airlines from levying federal excise duty of Rs 50,000 on international travelers from Pakistan who bought their tickets before July 1. 

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) With reference to international air tickets purchased before July 2022, it has been clarified that the new federal excise duty will not apply to them. 

The FBR says that under the Finance Bill 2022, the federal excise duty on club, business and first class international air tickets has been increased from Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000. 

Under Section 8A of Rule 41A of the Federal Excise Rules 2005, Federal Excise Duty will be levied at the time of issuance of international air tickets. 

Federal excise duty is levied on. It may be recalled that some passengers had complained that on arrival at the airport on July 1 and 2, an additional Rs 50,000 was charged on their ticket and it was said that the government had passed a finance bill It has been added by. 

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the collection of up to Rs 50,000 Federal Excise Duty (FED) from passengers at the airport and expressed his indignation and said that harassment of passengers at airports should be stopped immediately.

He said that immediate investigation should be carried out and strict action should be taken against those responsible under the law. 

Passengers who have been harassed have no right to remain in office. Refunds should be made to the passengers from whom FED has been received. 

The Prime Minister had demanded immediate implementation of his orders and a report on action taken against those responsible. 

Following the orders from the Prime Minister, the FBR has clarified and instructed the concerned airlines not to charge additional federal excise duty on tickets issued before July 1.
