It is said that love is blind, it sees no borders, no mountains and no rivers.
Something similar happened to 23-year-old Krishna Mandal of Bangladesh.
She entered the Indian state of Bengal from Bangladesh to marry her Facebook boyfriend Arrived.
Krishna Mandal of Bangladesh and Abhik Mandal of 24 Parganas district of Bengal met on social media.
For a few days the series of messages and chats continued and then the two fell in love with each other.
Krishna was desperate to meet Abhik but did not have a travel passport.
They set out on a perilous journey to marry Abhik.
He met Abhik in his village. According to local reports, the two went to Kolkata and got married at the Kali Ghat temple.
Discussions about Krishna's love affair with him and marriage began to spread and then the news went viral on social media.
As soon as the police got the news, they arrested Krishna on Monday for entering the country illegally.
Krishna has been remanded in judicial custody for 14 days and has been shifted to a women's protection center, said Torgh Rehman Ghazi, a police officer at Kolkata's Narendrapur police station.
Police raided Abhik Mandal's house but Abhik and his family escaped. Krishna has been arrested from there.
There are reports that Krishna may be handed over to the Bangladesh High Commission to be sent back to Bangladesh after completing the necessary paperwork.
According to some reports, Krishna was married two years ago in Bangladesh but she was not happy with her husband.
Police say they cannot confirm this and are investigating all aspects.
