The Sri Lankan government on Sunday raised petrol prices once again, adding to the hardships of its citizens.
The price of diesel has been increased by 15 per cent to Rs 460 or 1. 1.27 per liter while the price of petrol has been increased by 22 per cent to Rs 550 or 1.5 1.52 per liter.
The announcement came a day after Energy Minister Kanchana Vejiskera said there would be an indefinite delay in the new shipment of oil.
Avoid standing up. According to official sources, the oil supply in the country was sufficient for about two days but the authorities have kept it for essential services.

US delegation visits Sri Lanka
A delegation from the US Treasury and State Department has arrived in Colombo to help "needy Sri Lankan citizens."
The U.S. embassy says it has pledged 158.75 million in new financial assistance to help Sri Lankans in the past two weeks.
Has appealed for 47 million. The United Nations says 1.7 million people need "life-saving aid".
Four out of five people have reduced their food intake due to severe shortages and rising food prices.

The shortage of petrol in the country has also led to a drop in hospital staff attendance.
On Saturday, the Sri Lankan prime minister warned parliament that more problems could arise. "Our economy is complete," he said.
The Sri Lankan government said in April that it was in talks with the IMF for a possible bailout package.
