China will defend if it invades Taiwan: US President

The US president also held a press conference with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida

US President Joe Biden has warned China that if it tries to occupy Taiwan by force, US forces will defend it.

Beijing has responded to Washington by saying it is playing with fire.

Speaking to reporters in Tokyo, Biden compared the Chinese threat to Taiwan to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The US president has used the toughest words ever on the China-Taiwan issue at a time when concerns are being raised about China's growing economic and military might.

US President Joe Biden, who is visiting Japan, said He also held a joint press conference with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.

When asked if the United States intends to use military force to help Taiwan, the president has made it clear that "yes, that's the promise we've made."

"We have agreed and signed the one-China policy," he said, referring to the diplomatic recognition of the Beijing government.

Can be achieved by force is inappropriate. It would change the face of the whole region and would be a step similar to an attack on Ukraine.

" According to Beijing, "Washington is playing a dangerous game."

"Washington is playing with fire," he said. "The United States is playing the Taiwan card to control China, but it will burn itself out."

He called on the United States to refrain from commenting on the action, which has already violated the rules laid down between the two countries.
