76 convicts sentenced to two years in prison

An anti-terrorism court has ruled in the case of burning and murder of Sri Lankan citizen Prantha Kumar in Sialkot. 

An anti-terrorism court sentenced six convicts to death and seven to life in prison in a verdict handed down on Monday evening. 

76 accused were sentenced to two years in prison. 

The accused were indicted on March 12. 

The court heard the case on a daily basis and completed the trial within a month. 

A five-member prosecution team headed by Senior Special Prosecutor Abdul Rauf Wattoo completed the trial. 

The prosecution made 46 eyewitnesses part of the challan. 

Police also made footage from 10 CCTV cameras part of the challan. 

Videos obtained from the mobile phones of five accused were also made part of the record. 

The prosecution filed challans against 89 accused. 

According to the challan, 80 accused are adults and 9 are minors. 

In December last year, workers at a private factory on Wazirabad Road in Sialkot tortured and killed a Sri Lankan factory manager for blasphemy and set his body on fire.
