During the protests in Bangladesh, the opposition resigned from the government and called for new elections

In Bangladesh, protests against fuel prices and power cuts continue, the opposition is demanding the resignation of the government and new elections. 

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) announced today that it will hold a rally against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The BNP is calling on the Prime Minister to resign and call for new elections. 

Dhaka Police have set up checkpoints at various locations to stop today's rally. Two key leaders of the opposition BNP party have been arrested to stop today's rally against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. 

According to the BNP party spokesman, around 2,000 workers, including two top party leaders, have been arrested in an attempt to stop tomorrow's rally. 

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and former minister Mirza Abbas have been arrested on suspicion of inciting violence and obstructing government work, according to Dhaka Police. 

It should be noted that protests against fuel price hikes and power outages continue in Bangladesh. One person was killed and dozens injured during an anti-government protest on Wednesday.
