Vivo X Flip Clamshell in progress; The design schemes and the first models came out (Image source: Google/WhatMobile) |
Vivo's latest foldable lineup may feature an additional flip phone this time around. The BBK-owned chain, which is following in the footsteps of a partner brand, will expand its foldable portfolio with a pocket-sized vertical display connector called the Vivo X Flip. There is no official announcement yet, but a wiring diagram of the phone is doing the rounds on the internet.
The venerable announcer Digital Chat Station revealed the model and schematic in one of his mini-posts on Weibo. The design is very controversial and not very nice to look at. Whether or not the chain will go for that plan is another debate entirely.
The main camera unit is located on a circular disk, which is immediately underlined by a cover screen that extends horizontally. With the lens disc slid to one side, the upcoming Vivo price catalog addition has plenty of white space in the top right corner. The minimal Zeiss branding and vertical 3-stroke LED are there to support the X Flip's aesthetic, but they're not successful.
Mockup is not exactly a render-assisted image. The illustration image appears to have cutouts from the Vivo X70 Pro attached to the X Flip. Four cameras are in print, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're confirmed. There's still a lot we haven't discovered. We recommend that you do not take this photo as is.
Vivo's collaboration with Zeiss is a brand thing and a typical thing to expect, so it seems like a safe bet. Since competing clamshell folding sets usually don't offer the same level of photography as their traditional flat counterparts, using Zeiss' help could be an interesting choice for Vivo. There isn't much out there in the province of its hardware, but the tipster claims Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 at the forefront of the X Flip. The handset costs much more in Pakistan than the Vivo X80's suggested retail price.
