France will lift its visa ban on Moroccans after almost a year in what is seen as improving relations between the two countries.

British news agency Reuters quoted French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna as saying that after talks with Moroccan counterpart Nasser Bourita in Rabat "we discussed restoring consular relations with our Moroccan partners". Steps have been taken.

Relations between the two countries have long been strained, but relations have improved since the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, where France defeated Morocco.

Following public pressure to crack down on undocumented migrants, the French government announced it would reduce the number of visas issued to citizens of Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia after several North African countries refused to illegally deport citizens to France. It was not immediately clear whether France would receive anything from Morocco in return.

Regarding this, Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourtia says that France decided to lift the ban unilaterally, while the decision to impose the ban was also taken unilaterally on its behalf. Generally between France and Morocco. Relations with Algeria, France's neighbor and former colony, were cordial.

Relations between the two were strained in 2021 when media reports surfaced that President Emmanuel Macron's phone number in Morocco was on a list monitored by Pegasus software.

Morocco, on the other hand, denied allegations that it did not have the Pegasus software. The improvement in relations between the two countries came after the FIFA World Cup semi-final match between France and Morocco.

France won the game that played an important role in bringing the governments and dual nationalities of the two countries closer together.
