OPPO A98 passed by TENAA with renders; Debuting in November with a curved screen |
Earlier this week, digital chat station Weibo posted a rumor about an upcoming premium successor to last year's OPPO A96 called the A98. Despite the skepticism about his claim, many believed that there was a device with supposed key specifications.
It seems his claims weren't far off. Work is underway on a smartphone codenamed "Hepburn". Based on a newly discovered TENAA listing, the codename belongs to an Oppo phone with model number "PHQ110". Although the document does not explicitly reveal a name, the rumor mill believes it is OPPO A98.

The digital chat station is an industry recognized parameter. Although the TENAA listing didn't reveal any useful details, the specs leaked by DCS might be the next best guess for what the OPPO A98 brings to the table.
With a 120Hz display and FHD+ resolution, the new A98 could be OPPO's first A-series curved screen at an affordable price. As per the trend of the latest 12 series of Redmi, the A98 will try to beat the record-highest PWM dimming on a smartphone. The newcomer's screen will use 2160Hz PWM to reduce eye fatigue in low-light conditions.

Additionally, the A98 will boast the highest screen-to-body ratio of any smartphone with a 2.3mm chin. DCS previously claimed that the device will feature the high-end Snapdragon 778G chipset. But the chances of that are slim. The guide now claims that the Snapdragon 695 SoC is a safe bet.
In terms of design, the OPPO A98 mimics the Honor X40's camera and bezel topography - images come directly from TENAA. The primary lens is said to have a 108MP sensor. Essentials include 67W charging, NFC support, and stereo speakers.
