Qualcomm's back-to-back flagship for mobile platforms, the much-anticipated and much-hyped Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC is finally official. It's a beast overclocked silicon with brand new 1+2+2+3 architecture. Its single main core can reach clock speeds of up to 3.36 GHz. The remaining efficiency and performance segments range between 2.02 GHz and 2.80 GHz.
Several Android lineups were expecting the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Now that it's out in the wild, smartphone makers will have no hesitation in lining up their flagships, including the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, standard S23, and S23Plus.
Exciting news for Galaxy fans; The next flagship line, AKA S23 series, plans to introduce an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 - where the base version of the SoC is at a frequency of 3.2 GHz, the OC 8 Gen 2 will be below the maximum deck level of the Galaxy S23 series at 3.36 GHz.
According to some reports, the OC silicon is only sold in European Galaxy S phones. However, some of their Geekbench results listings roaming the web are straight out of the US, suggesting a global launch of the latest Samsung S Mobile. While we don't want to jump to conclusions, the same could happen to the Pakistani variants on arrival.
Qualcomm's overclocked chips traditionally have a "+" sign at the end of their names, for example the OnePlus 7T's Snapdragon 855+ chip. With Samsung's alleged plan, enthusiasts are predicting the same nickname. Users will likely find SD 8 Gen 2+ exclusively on the S23 series charger.
With a 35% faster CPU and 25% faster GPU than its predecessor, 8 Gen 2 has a clear advantage over all other platforms. The supercharged 8 Gen 2+ model will deliver an even better performance result in the Samsung Galaxy S23 series.
