Cambodia has banned Myanmar's military rulers from attending meetings of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

The Cambodian Foreign Ministry said on Saturday that ASEAN had jointly decided that Myanmar's military rulers would not be able to attend the meeting unless they made progress on the peace plan.

Cambodia's special representative for Myanmar, Prak Sokhon, told a news conference that "there should be a process that shows that progress has been made on the peace plan, then we will be able to make any further decisions."

It should be clear that Myanmar's army, which has been suffering for many years, overthrew the elected government of Aung San Suu Kyi and seized power and started a crackdown on her opponents, while Aung San Suu Kyi was accused of "corruption". '

was sentenced to five years and is currently in prison.
