Taiwan is an island nation in East Asia, located off the coast of mainland China. It has a population of 23.3 million people, according to the CIA World Factbook, and its capital city is Taipei. The coastal plains in eastern Taiwan are covered by tropical rainforest, which ranks as one of the world’s best biodiversity hotspots and biodiversity preservation areas.
China and Taiwan are economic, social, and political rivals. The history of the two sides are not exactly the same. However, there is something very similar between them and it is their dynamic relationship.

The China-Taiwan Rift is the longest and deepest fault in Asia. It stretches 2,550 miles [4,000 km] across the Taiwan Strait, splitting the island of Taiwan into two roughly equal halves.
