Israel's decision to close the crossing on the Gaza Strip

Cogate added in a statement that "the decision to reopen the crossing will be based on a review of the security situation"

Israel has said it will close its only crossing on the border with the Gaza Strip to workers on Sunday.

The Israeli statement came after militants fired three rockets at a Jewish state in the Palestinian enclave.

The Israeli Defense Ministry's Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) said on Saturday that "following the rocket fire from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory last night, it has been decided that Gaza will be closed next Sunday."

Traders and workers will not be allowed to enter Israel through Aries Crossing.

Palestinian and Israeli sources said two rockets were fired from Gaza into southern Israel on Friday night, one hitting a Jewish state and the other near a residential building in northern Gaza.

A third rocket was fired, but no air strike sirens were activated for any of the launches.

The rockets were fired as Israeli police clashed with Palestinian protesters on the grounds of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, a flashpoint in Jerusalem.

Cogate added in a statement that the decision to reopen the crossing would be based on a review of the security situation.
