In India, a temple palanquin collided with a high transmission line, killing 11 people

At least 11 people have been killed and 15 others injured in an electric shock during a religious procession at a temple in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. 

According to Indian News Channel NDTV, the incident took place on Wednesday morning in Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu. 

Authorities say the temple's palanquin had difficulty turning and collided with an overhead power line. 

Authorities say two children were killed and several others were taken to a nearby hospital. 

"A case has been registered and an investigation is underway," said V. 
Balkrishnan, IG, Tiruchirappalli.
