Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates met Prime Minister Imran Khan on his first visit to Pakistan. 


Microsoft co-founder and billionaire philanthropist Bill Gates met with Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday during his first visit to Pakistan. Commended the efforts taken by the NCOC (National Command and Operations Center) to eradicate the Corona virus and its awareness program.

He later attended a luncheon in his honor. Earlier, Gates also met with Minister for Planning and Development and NCOC chief Asad Omar and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Health Dr. Faisal Sultan. Attended the meeting. During his visit, Gates was briefed by NCOC on its role and mechanisms, its achievements since the outbreak of the Covid 19 epidemic, the Corona virus situation in Pakistan, as well as the non-pharmaceutical forum for controlling the spread of the disease. The statement added that Gates and his delegation were also briefed on the genome sequence found in Pakistan and the variants of the corona virus.

Gates took a keen interest in the various initiatives of the NCOC, particularly the implementation of the Smart Lockdown and Micro-Smart Lockdown Strategy and the Pakistan Vaccine Administration Regime, which enabled the NCOC to formulate and implement a comprehensive quad response. During his visit to the NCOC, the chairman of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation also expressed his views on the epidemic, especially the vaccination campaign.

According to the statement, "Gates praised Pakistan's success against Covid 19 despite introducing resource constraints and best practices and measures to protect public health." I attribute the success to "a real national response, accomplished through the NCOC's effective communication campaign method".

He also thanked Gates for his support of the Foundation for Pakistan during the Coveted 19. Prominent philanthropists have in the past discussed various issues with Prime Minister Imran and their possible solutions. In October last year, the Prime Minister urged Gates to consider providing humanitarian assistance to the poorest people in Afghanistan. Appreciating the assistance provided by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in this regard, the two also discussed the polio situation in Afghanistan and Pakistan with the Prime Minister. In return, the Microsoft co-founder praised the Prime Minister for his progress in eradicating the disease and promised continued support from his foundation for the country's polio program.
