A courier delivering an iPhone was killed for lack of money

Police say the accused ordered an iPhone worth 46,000 Indian rupees

A 20-year-old man reportedly killed a deliveryman in the Hassan district of the Indian state of Karnataka because he did not have the money to pay the fare. 

According to Hindustan Times, police said the name of the deceased was Hemanath Naik and he was 23 years old. A murder investigation has been launched against the accused. 

Hassan District Superintendent of Police Hariyam Shankar said the accused Hemanath Dutt killed the deliveryman's son because he could not pay for the iPhone. 

It was a challenging case for us because at first we did not know the motive for the murder. They had no enmity, no previous quarrels, and no previous crimes. The accused then confessed to the crime. 

According to details, the police said the accused had ordered an iPhone worth INR 46,000 and when Hemanath Naik came for delivery, he asked him to open the package before paying and then asked him to come inside. friends bring money 

Naik was waiting when the defendant attacked him with a knife from behind and he died instantly. 

After Naik was killed, the accused sealed the victim in a sack and hid her in his bathroom for three days. According to SP Hariyam Shankar, the killing took place on February 7 and on February 10 the accused killed the body to destroy the evidence. But they burned it by pouring gasoline and kerosene. 

Police have secured CCTV footage of the burning body. According to them, the last residence of the deceased was found in the residence of the defendant. 

Naik was supposed to deliver seven parcels that day, but after sending two parcels, he disappeared. His last place of residence was the house of the defendant.
