2022 the worst year for Palestinians, mass killings by the Israeli army

Judging by the number of deaths at the hands of the Israeli army in 2022, that year has been extremely painful for the Palestinians.

not only has there been a huge loss of life in Palestine, but there has also been an increase in Israeli aggression over the past year, while an ultra-conservative party has formed the government in Israel.

Palestinian government spokesman Ibrahim Melham told Arab News that "2022 was the worst year in terms of the extent to which the Israeli army killed Palestinians."

According to official figures, 225 people have been killed in the West Bank and Gaza Strip in the past 12 months.

However, Ibrahim Melham says that the way solidarity has been shown for the Palestinian struggle internationally, apart from Arab countries, has given hope. He said that international organizations have made it clear that there is an understanding of the rights and demands of the Palestinian people.

Ahmad Ghanim, the leader of the Fatah movement in Jerusalem, says the most positive thing about 2022 is the emergence of a new generation of Palestinian resistance fighters.

Palestinians believe that the Israeli Defense Forces have changed tactics over the past month and when they feel threatened they shoot and kill an attacker instead of wounding him.

Israeli officials believe the security situation in the West Bank will worsen in the coming weeks and there is a risk of attacks on Jewish settlers, including Israeli soldiers, which could increase the number of Palestinian casualties.

On December 31, the last day of 2022, a referendum on the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories was held in the United Nations General Assembly, where 87 countries voted for Palestine.

The General Assembly has asked the International Court of Justice for a legal opinion on the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories.

The request was approved by a majority, which was welcomed by the Palestinian Authority.

Presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudina said in a tweet that the results of the referendum show that the whole world supports the Palestinian people and their inalienable historical rights.

He said in a continuing statement that President Mahmoud Abbas thanked all countries that stood by the Palestinians and all parties that played a role in making this decision happen.
