INDIA: Another unique incident in the country of the watchmen

A Gold bar was stolen from the bank by digging a 10 meter long tunnel 

Lucknow: Thieves in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh dug a 10ft long and 4ft wide tunnel to reach a bank's safe deposit box area and got away with stealing the gold. 

According to Indian media, thieves have carried out a film-style robbery in the city of Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, surprising police and bank staff. 

When the bank manager reached the office as usual, he found the lockers open, the locks broken and 1.8kg of gold worth Rs 1 crore missing. The police were called immediately. 

Police said the thieves dug a 10-foot-long and 4-foot-wide tunnel from a vacant lot next to the bank and reached and cleaned the lockers. The thieves also tried but failed to break into the lockers which contained 32 million rupees. 

The head of the bank said in his statement that these ornaments belonged to 29 citizens who deposited gold to get a loan from the bank.
