Amber Heard settles Johnny Depp defamation case

Hollywood actress Amber Heard has announced a million dollar settlement with her ex-husband and famous actor Johnny Depp.

According to AFP news agency, Amber Heard did not provide any information on the deal in her Instagram post. A Virginia court ordered her to pay Johnny Depp $1 million.

However, the website TM Zaid has said, citing sources familiar with the matter, that Amber Heard will give her ex-husband $1 million as part of the settlement.

Amber Heard said she was withdrawing her appeal and seeking a settlement because she did not want to face another trial.

"After much discussion, I have made the difficult decision to reach an agreement. I made this decision because I did not trust the American justice system. The court found Johnny Depp and Amber Heard guilty of mutual defamation.

Amber Heard was ordered to pay Johnny Depp $13.5 million while Johnny Depp was ordered to pay $2 million.

Johnny Depp is suing Amber Heard for $50 million in damages for writing a 2018 Washington Post article describing himself as a victim of domestic violence.

Amber Heard also sued Johnny Depp for $100 million in damages. Amber Heard's lawyers said their clients could not pay $100 million in damages.
