INDIA: 'Sacrifice of two women' to change fate, three arrested in India

Police in India have arrested three people for allegedly killing two women while trying to make them rich through witchcraft. 

Police spokesperson Pramod Kumar said that the financially strapped couple paid Rs 3 lakh to Muhammad Shafi, who provided two women as 'sacrifices' who were later killed with 'extreme violence'. 

According to the police, these incidents happened at different times during three months.

According to the police, Muhammad Shafi had told the Kerala couple Bhagawal Singh and his wife Leila, who gave the money, that "to become rich, one must take the path of human sacrifice." 

The police spokesperson said that Muhammad Shafi was asked Earlier, a case was also registered on the charge of rape. 

"Shafi led a woman to Bhagawal Singh's house under the pretense of getting her a job in the film." 

According to the investigators, when nothing happened after the first sacrifice, Bhagawal Singh accused Shafi of not changing his fate. 

But Shafi told them that the second sacrifice will have to be done in September."We were investigating the case of the first missing woman when the last mobile location of the second missing woman also came close to Bhagawal Singh's house," said the police spokesperson. 

The police recovered the mutilated bodies of both from the couple's yard. Accused Muhammad Shafi is being investigated for his involvement in other cases.

"It was hard for us to believe that there were people living in the neighborhood who committed brutal torture and murder," a neighbor of Bhagawal Singh, a traditional healer, told Hindustan Times.
