According to the statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan today, Pakistan has condemned the attack on the Al-Aqsa Mosque by the settlers under the protection of the Israeli forces.

"Pakistan strongly condemns the attack on the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque by the Israeli settlers under the protection of the Israeli occupying forces."

According to the statement, "This provocative move has violated the sanctity of the First Qibla and hurt the sentiments of Muslims around the world."

Such incidents are a clear violation of international law, international norms and practices. Any attempt to change the historical and legal status of Al-Aqsa Mosque should be stopped.

Pakistan has demanded the international community to take immediate action to end Israeli aggression and violations. Israeli actions are fueling violence, tension and instability in the region.

According to Wafa News Agency, more than 1,700 Israeli settlers have entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque today, Sunday morning, under the supervision of the Israeli army.

The Israeli army has also attacked Palestinians and journalists in occupied Jerusalem on Sunday. A number of Israeli extremists, including settlers, stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem on Sunday morning as the Israeli army's offensive on Gaza entered its third day.

The Israeli army has continued to bombard Gaza, which has claimed the lives of 29 people, including six children, as of Sunday.

The Palestinian group Islamic Jihad has also fired rockets in response to Israeli attacks, raising the threat of a repeat of the 11-day standoff in May 2021.

According to the news agency AFP, the health authorities in the territory controlled by the Palestinian group Hamas have said about the latest number of deaths that six children have died since the beginning of the "Israeli aggression" on Friday. while 253 people have been injured.

Israel, on the other hand, said it had "irrefutable" evidence that "a rocket fired by Islamic Jihad militants killed several children in the northern Gaza city of Jabalia on Saturday."

It was not immediately clear how many children died in Jabalia, but an AFP photographer saw six bodies, including three children, at a hospital in the area.

Israel's military has warned that its air and artillery strikes against Islamic Jihad could last for a week.

Meanwhile, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has said that Cairo is engaged in "24-hour" talks with the parties to end the violence.

Israel says it was necessary to launch a "pre-emptive operation" against Islamic Jihad as the group was planning a quick attack after days of tensions along the Gaza border.

Meanwhile, civilians in Israel took refuge in shelters built to avoid rocket attacks. AFP correspondents heard warning sirens of rockets being fired at Tel Aviv on Saturday evening.

A civil defense unit in the Rafah area on Gaza's border with Egypt said women and children were buried under the rubble of buildings as a result of the Israeli attack.

On the other hand, aid workers have excavated the site where Israel allegedly targeted Islamic Jihad commander Khaled Mansoor on Saturday.

There was no specific confirmation of Mansour's death, but the head of Israel's directorate of military operations, Oded Basiok, said in a statement that "the top leadership of the military wing of the Islamic Jihad in Gaza has been rendered inactive."

Life in Gaza is hard

The Israeli attacks have disrupted normal life in the Gaza Strip, with an electricity distribution company saying its only power station has shut down due to fuel shortages after Israel closed border crossings.

Gaza's health ministry said the next few hours would be "critical and difficult". The ministry has warned that there is a risk that critical services will be suspended within 72 hours as a result of the power shortage.

Gaza City resident Dunia Ismail told AFP that Palestinians have become accustomed to preparing "essential bags" containing items such as money and medicine.

He told AFP: "The recent tensions have brought back fear, anxiety and the feeling that we are completely alone."

On the other hand, Magon David Adom Emergency Service in Israel has said that two such people have been admitted to the hospital, who were injured as a result of the rocket explosion, while 13 other people were injured while running to save their lives.

The Palestinian group Islamic Jihad is affiliated with Hamas but often operates independently. Western countries have declared both organizations as terrorists and blacklisted them.

Hamas has fought four battles with Israel since taking control of Gaza in 2007, including in May last year. Tensions rose in 2019 after Israel killed Islamic Jihad commander Jabari's predecessor, Abu Atta, but Hamas did not take part in the fighting.
